Climber reviews
What climbers are saying

Recently started going to this gym again after moving away in 2023. This gym has noticeably changed, and not for the better. First, the gym is packed nowadays, particularly around 5-9pm. It can get very humid and rank, so be prepared for that. More/better ventilation is definitely needed in this facility. Second, parking near the entrance of the gym can be a pain. To the establishments credit, there are plenty of spaces however you might just have to make a bit of a walk across the parking lot to enter the gym. Third, some of the front desk workers are inhospitable, which is alarming considering they work a customer-service oriented job. Yesterday, 3/11/26 to be specific, I had an unpleasant interaction with a front desk associate after bringing my brother for his first-time bouldering. The dude was rude and condescending, speaking to myself and my brother as if we had shown him any malice. He lectured us on safety while rock climbing, and while I respect making sure climbers stay safe when falling/dismounting from a wall, his tone was unwelcoming and patronizing. Fourth, as noted in other reviews, the facilities are poorly maintained. Half of the automated lockers inside the locker room next to the bathroom don't work so they won't do much for you with regards to keeping your belongings secure. The water station can be gross and you'll often see the change filter light on for weeks at a time. The cleanliness of the bathrooms and filling of paper towel/soap receptacles leaves much to be desired. On a positive note, the classes are decent. Yoga classes offered can be challenging and while I wish the instructor was more attentive in helping attendees with their form, the experience overall is adequate. Similarly the fitness classes are challenging and engaging however they are a bit more of a pain due to the diminutive size of the gym area in this location, making for an often cramped experience. The walls and routes themselves are entertaining and appropriately rated in my experience. There is a healthy mix of high level problems and lower level problems, making this gym appealing to both beginner and advanced climbers. All in all, I love bouldering, but it's hard to love this gym. For now, I'll keep Movement Sunnyvale as my primary gym, at least until Touchstone decides to open a new gym in the area!

Same as other locations. Love/hate this place a bit. Climbing is a friendly activity but when you have 1 person staffing the desk on a holiday and the line is 10 deep I can’t even ask where your first aid station is for a cut because there are no bandaids out and no one to help. Gym overall is spacious but fyi no sauna at this location

I decided to check out Movement Santa Clara to try a new gym in the northern California area, and it's enjoyable. I've been to Movement in Orange, and Santa Clara seems like they have a larger boulder area but a smaller gym section. The ceilings don't go as high, so they do feel slightly cramped inside the bouldering area. The routes range from VB to one v11. The difficulty seems on par with the other gyms in the area. The routes were varied in technique and skill but overall really interesting climbs. This gym also uses Kaya as the climbing app, which helps solo climbers figure out betas or log their sends. There's a kilter, tension, and campus board for training, and all of those areas were pretty empty the few hours I was there. The bathrooms were clean and were equipped with clean towels and showers but no sauna. The front staff was helpful in checking me in and asking whether I needed any type of rentals. The price for a day pass here is 33 dollars, which is a tad more expensive compared to a few other climbing gyms. This location also got very packed in the evening, around seven, when I was there. There's plenty of parking, though, which is a bonus. I'm definitely checking out the Santa Clara Movement in the future when I return to the area.

Great place for climbing or working out. Climbing routes range from beginner (v0) to advanced (v8+) and are updated on a regular basis. Gym equipment mostly focuses on free weights and is well maintained. There are yoga classes, but I haven't taken any. Facilities are clean and include showers. There is no sauna
