  love this place!! very nice community— staff and members are all very kind facilities are great. the locker rooms are clean. they have a sauna and also provide gender neutral bathrooms. theres routes and boulders. the boulders get changed around once a month. parking is definitely very hard to find. theres parking in front of the entrance but is usually full. theres various (paid) parking garages in downtown SJ but cost quite a bit (especially the one directly behind the studio). there are also street closures once in a while so thats also very annoying

  The Studio Climbing in San Jose feels like home. Compared to Pacific Pipe, which has a more corporate, warehouse-style vibe, The Studio has a welcoming, community-driven atmosphere that makes you want to stay and hang out. The staff is always friendly, the setting is creative and consistently fresh, and the layout makes it easy to connect with other climbers. It may not be the biggest gym, but that’s part of its charm—it’s a place where you recognize faces, get solid climbs in, and actually feel like part of a climbing family. If you’re looking for a gym that balances strong routes, a chill vibe, and a tight-knit community, The Studio is the spot.

  Nice facility, but very inflexible policies. I was injured after only 3 visits early in the month and couldn’t return, yet was still charged for most of the month. No prorating or mid-month freezes allowed. They eventually offered a partial credit, but not a refund—which isn’t helpful if you can’t continue your membership. Just be aware: if something unexpected happens, they’re not very accommodating. There are other climbing gyms in the area that may offer more flexibility, so I’d recommend looking into those before signing up here.

  Fun gym, on a smaller size. Variety of routes for top rope and lead, decent size bouldering section. Various classes and child camps offered. There are free weights and other exercise equipment. Towels offered, coed sauna, showers. Climbing equipment rental for use in house. Low income and student discounts available. Thr staff is friendly and helpful. Great impression overall. The downsides include no auto-belay, no free parking, and the sauna is colder than YMCA sauna, likely due to the temp sensor right above the heater.
